Character Archetypes in Anime | The Messiah Complex

Character Archetypes are very prevalent in anime, especially in this day and age where almost every anime series released contains at least 2 archetypes. Archetypes are set roles or positions assigned to characters that details their reactions to certain situations and their personality overall. In anime these can be broken down into various different archetypes each acting independently such as but not limited to: the Tsundere, the Yandere and the Dandere. Tsundere’s are often cold on the outside but have a more gentle unseen side, yandere’s are psychopaths and obsessively crazy over the ones they love and dandere’s are more subdued and detached from everyone else and seemingly emotionless.

Flying Witch Review

This year of anime although not being the best in recent year, has still provided some very interesting and enjoyable shows, one being Flying Witch which is produced by J.C Staff who look on track of being the best animation company of the year. Flying Witch is an iyashikei type of slice-of-life anime which has similarities in tone and pace to others iyashikei such as Aria or Haibane Renmei, whilst a similar setting and premise of the 1989 studio Ghibli movie: Kiki’s Delivery Service. It looks like it will be a strong contender for anime of the year, having already been what many would consider anime of the season.

Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara (Food Wars! S2) Review

Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara is the continuation of the 2015 hit cooking series Shokugeki no Souma or Food Wars!. This second season picks up right after the first with the start of the Autumn Election tournament after the preliminary rounds are concluded. It is 13 episodes, and done by the same studio J.C Staff who are on course to being anime studio of the year having been very strong with their other summer series Amanchu! This anime being half the length of the first season does contain less material in it and only has 1 major arc and a follow-up mini arc where the students from the academy start their internships.
